Getting to Zero: Demanding a Comprehensive, District-wide Strategy to End HIV/AIDS

wad_2012 releaseOn Monday, December 3, a diverse coalition of advocates and community-based organizations stood together to demand that the Mayor and his Commission on HIV/AIDS develop and implement a comprehensive district-wide strategy to end HIV/AIDS in the District of Columbia.

In October, the DC Community Coalition submitted to the Mayor and his Commission on HIV/AIDS a call for a comprehensive district-wide HIV/AIDS strategy that would expand the current Department of Health-based approach and incorporate the broad scope of local government departments (including education, housing and corrections, and more) to address the important issues of prevention, treatment, care, and cure in a holistic way. We have not heard a response from the Mayor or his Commission on HIV/AIDS, so the time has come to make a louder call.
