Join TWC in Recognizing Global Female Condom Day!
On September 16, 2013 advocates around the world will celebrate the female condom - the only receptive partner initiated barrier method that protects against HIV, STIs, and unintended pregnancy. However, awareness of and access to this method has been limited among potential users and providers alike.
The Women's Collective has been working for four years in DC as part of a broad effort spearheaded by Washington AIDS Partnership to increase community and provider acceptance through a varitey of strategies that address limited knowledge and access while helping to advocate for this important barrier method.
This year, in partnership with many organizations including The Washignton AIDS Partnership, we will be celebrating the female condom with the events below:
- Thurday, September 5 from 1:00 to 2:30 EDT: "The Growing Movement for Female Condoms: Products and Perspectives from the Field" webinar. Join the National Female Condom Coalition to find out more from leading female condom advocates.
- Tuesday, September 17 at Busboys and Poets (V St, NW) at 6:00pm: "Global Female Condom Day Film Screening." Join TWC, Washington AIDS Partnership, CHANGE, The Red Pump Project, The Young Women's Project, Planned Parenthood, PATH, and the DC Department of Health as we celebrate the female condom with advocates from around the world!
